Meet Tami Dower. She just moved to Sunset Valley with very little money from a small nameless town. She loved her town, but there was no opportunity for growth, especially in the field she desperately wanted to be in: Journalism. She had a talent for both writing and speaking. Needless to say the first thing she did was get a job as a Paper Girl. Hey, you have to start somewhere.
Not able to afford a computer of her own, Tami went to the local library to do research and write her articles. She quickly drew attention to herself and got promoted to a Freelance Writer. At this point she felt pretty good about herself, but then she met Cycl0n3.
It was love at first sight. Tami's heart beat doubled as they grasped hands for the first time. They began to talk and Tami learned that Cycl0n3 was also trying to get ahead as a journalist. Finally Tami got up the nerve to ask if he was single.
Cycl0n3's answer was to kiss her. It was thrilling and Tami's heart melted. They started dating right away.
Tami thought she was quite lucky to have someone as sweet as Cycl0n3, even if he did spell his name with "leet speak". He got her flowers and showered her with gifts. For a good month they were happy.
Tami made it a habit to read the newspaper every day. Cycl0n3 should have known better. Right on the front page was an article Tami recognized. "Political Aspirations of City Hall Aides" by...Cycl0n3 Sw0rd! That was her article she wrote to submit! Tami was furious, and went to confront Cycl0n3.
"You stole my article!" Tami yelled into Cycl0n3's face.
"Hey, babe, calm down. You write better than I do. I thought what mine is yours ect ect."
Tami was fuming, "It's over!" and she stormed away.
On the rebound Tami found Stiles McGraw. He wasn't perfect, but he kept Tami's mind off Cycl0n3. He was sweet, understanding, and gentile. It didn't take long for Tami to get bored of him. Tami got herself a makeover and decided to put her nose to the grindstone at work.
Tami even found comfort in a hedgehog she found outside her house one morning. She named it Hedgie.
With all her hard work she quickly became an anonymous source handler at work. Life was again beginning to look up. She even met another guy, Xander Clavell.
He was smart, adventurous, but a bit inappropriate at times. The best part of him was that he was exciting; exactly what Tami needed. They never started dating, but that was ok with Tami.
Than Tami got an anonymous tip that Xander was a criminal. Tami thought it would be the perfect opportunity to write the article of a lifetime, but first she had to be sure the tip was authentic. She set up a secret meeting with the tipper at the local dance club.
The tipper happened to be Hank Goddard, the local policeman. After discussing business Tami promised to keep him anonymous in her article so he wouldn't lose his job. They also talked about personal stuff. Tami found out that Hank had a girlfriend he was living with, and that she was pregnant with twins. Tami congratulated him Hank was a nice guy and they quickly became good friends.
The two of them met in secret quite often. Tami was able to write the article that promoted her once again, implicating Xander in many crimes. Hank was not so lucky. His relationship was on the fritz. Tami tried to comfort him. It was then that she realized that she had feelings for him, not just as a friend, but as something more. She secretly wished they would break up.
Tami got her wish a week later. Hank came to her house crying, "She kicked me out, all because I wouldn't marry her." As Tami comforted him, they had a moment of staring into each other's eyes. Neither had to say a word, they kissed. "You were why I couldn't marry her. I'm in love with you," Hank whispered. "I love you too," Tami replied, kissing him again.
Hank stayed the night, and Tami woohooed for the first time. She loved Hank, and knew she wanted to be with him forever. But she was conflicted. What if she was just a rebound? Only time would tell.
But time did tell. They were together for a year when Tami decided to pop the question. She took Hank to the club where they first met, and shouting over the music she got on one knee and proposed to Hank. Joyously Hank agreed.
But all was not perfect. After the initial happiness Hank became distant. He wouldn't help with any of the wedding preparations. A kernel of doubt grew in Tami's thoughts. What if he really doesn't want to get married after all?
That didn't stop her from making the necessary arrangements. The wedding would be at her house because she couldn't afford a fancy place. The date was set, all she had to do was wait.
Finally the day came. Tami had her dress and her hair was done perfectly, but when the time came for everyone to arrive, no one showed. Tami cried for hours, unable to even call her best friend Tricia to find out why she didn't show. Than the doorbell rang.
When Tami answered the door still crying she almost slammed it in Hank's face. "How dare you show your face now?" she screamed at him
Hank took her hands and forced Tami to look at him, "I am so sorry. I got cold feet. But I love you, and I want to marry you. Please, please forgive me."
Tami's heart melted. She loved him too. "Alright, what do you have planned?"
Hank's face lit up. "I reserved the chapel for tomorrow. I called everyone and threatened to lock them up if they don't show." Then Hank fell to one knee, "Tami, will you do me the honors of marrying me?" Tami's eyes filled with tears once again, but this time with joy instead of sorrow, "Yes."
The next day Tami dressed up again to head to the chapel. Her stomach filled with butterflies as she neared, but her worries left when she saw Hank waiting for her outside, a big grin on his face. Everyone was there waiting for them to marry. It was a beautiful ceremony.
During the reception Tricia took Tami aside to explain why she didn't show the day before. "I knew Hank wouldn't come, and I didn't want to see you hurt."
"It hurt me more when you didn't come either," Tami replied, "but I'm glad you're here now."
That night was magical, and ended with Tami falling asleep in Hank's arms.
The first few weeks were wedding bliss. Than Tami started feeling sick, and she realized she was pregnant. Before telling Hank she went to the hospital to be certain. There was no mistaking, she was pregnant.
