Hank was surprised and scared when Tami told him she was pregnant. "I...we...you said you wanted to wait for your career first!" said Hank. "I know, this wasn't exactly the way I planned it, but we'll have to make due with the way it is," Tami replied angrily and walked away, leaving Hank to stammer to himself.
The due date came nearer and nearer, and Hank was still in shock. Sure, he read the pregnancy books Tami left out for him, and he was really hoping they would have a boy since he already had twin girls from another relationship.
One evening, while Tami was treating herself at the spa, she suddenly went into labor. She was worried because it was too early, and also Hank wasn't around. Tami quickly called a cab and zoomed to the hospital, where she had a healthy boy she named Keith. Hank missed the delivery, but when she was ready to leave with Keith in her arms, Hank was there to drive her home.
The first few months were hard. Tami had to take leave from work because Hank barely paid attention to the child. Tami was very angry with him, but she tried not to take it out on Keith; it wasn't his fault. She loved her new baby with all her heart, and he was going to know it.
Tami Taught Keith to talk all on her own. He also learned to walk and was potty trained without Hank's help. They had to hire a babysitter to come watch Keith when Tami finally returned to work, but Keith was a good kid and very easy to take care of. He was also smart; learning to read at a very young age.
But things weren't going so well for Hank and Tami. They hardly ever talked to each other and the tension between them was thick. Tami was beginning to think about divorce. Than Tami's birthday came, and Hank threw her a surprise party with all her friends. Tami was thrilled and she started talking to Hank again.
One night Tami couldn't find Hank anywhere. She assumed he went out without telling her again, but when she checked on Keith she found Hank talking to him. There was a look on Hank's face that Tami had never seen before. He looked at Tami and smiled, "He's a good boy." That was it, all thoughts of divorce left Tami's mind and they became a happy family together.
The next few years were uneventful, other than Death stopping by to watch TV one night. That was spooky, but Hank didn't want to upset Death so he let Death be. They began to wonder if their place was cursed for pets, though. On at least three occasions stray dogs and cats came to die on their doorstep. They would bury the bodies in their backyard.
When Keith started elementary school the Dower's decided it was time to build a new house. They hired constructors and lived in a hotel while they demolished their old shack and built them a beautiful two story 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house with an unfinished basement. It was perfect for their small family.
The family kept getting closer and closer as time went on. When Keith made it onto the honor roll Hank bought him a video game system. Keith said it was the best present ever.
Time moved quickly and soon Keith was a teenager going to prom. He couldn't find a date but while there a girl, Elena, who had a secret crush on him asked him to dance, and they really hit it off. Before the night was out Keith had a new girlfriend.
Hank got injured on the job and started having to use a cane to get around. He regretfully retired from work at the police station and started spending time with his other passion: the guitar. He even bought himself an electric guitar and started playing it at the park. Everyone loved it and thought he was really gifted.
Hank also decided to form a relationship with his two grown daughters, Tiana and Sophia. They were reluctant to get to know him at first, but after awhile they couldn't resist his charm. Hank even got on better terms with their mother, apologizing for leaving when she was pregnant with twins.
When Tami was finally promoted to Lead Anchor the family had to celebrate. All three of them went to France for a getaway. It refreshed Tami and Hank's relationship while Keith learned a bit about the culture. Everyone had a great time chatting with the locals and tasting the amazing wine that only the French could make.
After a week in France the family returned home, happy and refreshed, but not too long after that Tami started to feel sick. A familiar kind of sick...could it be? Tami thought she was unable to get pregnant at her age, and so she didn't take the necessary precautions while on vacation. She decided she must just be sick, that there was no way she was pregnant again. As time went by Tami started developing a belly, and she knew the truth. This time, when she told Hank he was thrilled to have a new addition to the home. He had truly changed.
